Bradford photographer Courtney Tizzard of Cheeky Photography may not be able to offer her spring mini photo sessions as originally planned this year, but she has found a new way to utilize her skills, all while giving back to the community.
Tizzard was inspired by other photographers online who have been taking photos of families outside on their porch in support of the Helping Hand Food Bank.
"I thought I could do that, too, and help out around my community," she said.
So she started, #theporchprojects, offering free five-minute family photo sessions to the people of Bradford in exchange for canned goods or monetary donations to the Helping Hand Food Bank.
"This is not a typical get-dressed-up-and-pose-for-the-photographer session," she described. "Come outside in your pyjamas and slippers. Be comfortable; be you. Include your pets!"
Once she posted the idea to her followers on her business Facebook page earlier this week, she had 10 families sign up right away.
So far she has done a few sessions and has more lined up next week. She said one of the ladies she photographed this week teared up in one of the sessions because she was so thankful.
"In times like these we need to stick together," said Tizzard.
"I love our community, and I really hope this inspires people to help give back."
