From July 9-14, competitors from 39 Dance Schools competed in the Luv 2 Dance National Finals which were held at the Blue Mountain Convention Centre in Collingwood.

Representing Barrie’s own All That’s Dance & More were Lindsay Buckley, Ashley Choy, Hannah Forsyth, Kaleigh Harvey, Audrey Moore, Jensen Schemmer and Arabella Turano. The dancers performed their solo and trio choreographies for which they had received exceptional marks at the regional competition held earlier this year in Toronto.

Congratulations go out to all the dancers who were once again rewarded for all their hard work and dedication.

Jensen was honoured as the Top Novice Overall dancer after having received a mark of 97.85 for her acrobatic solo 'Stand by Me'. She was then selected to compete in the Final Showdown which she subsequently won becoming the top scoring routine of the competition, along with being the first-place title champion after scoring an incredible mark of 99.5 per cent.

Arabella, Hannah and Lindsay won first runner-up for their acrobatic trio 'Lean On Me' with a mark of 96.38, and they also won the Triple Threat Award. The judges were wowed by the advanced level skills & tricks which they executed perfectly within their choreography.

They were also selected to compete in the Final Showdown where they became first-place champions in the duet/trio division.  Ashley won second in the Junior Division with a mark of 96.99 for her acrobatic routine 'Amazing Grace', and she was also selected to compete in the final Showdown where she was awarded an outstanding mark of 99.15. She won the second runner-up in the Final Showdown as well as second runner-up for title.

Ashley was also awarded a full scholarship to The Dance Attack Workshop. Audrey received Platinum for her open solo with a score of 93.81 per cent, and Kaleigh received a double Platinum for her jazz solo with a score of 96.06 per cent. Throughout the week the dancers who had been selected to be a part of the Competitions Elite Team learned choreography which they performed to a packed house at the closing Gala dinner.

Throughout the week dancers were motivated and inspired by the comments they received from the judges who commented on one performance saying “Great strength and control, Amazing height in your back layout, great contortion work, amazing flexibility, great connection with the audience.” The judges commented on another performance saying “beautiful technique used while executing all these skills, such a clean memorable performance.”

With further remarks such as “beautiful strong legs & flexibility,” it’s no wonder the dancers felt inspired. One score sheet read like promotional speech saying “Amazing feet, a gorgeous costume, Lovely extensions, Love your emotion, beautiful height, She’s a stunning performer, She has fabulous flexibility, & great Strength.” With such a fabulous commentary, there’s no doubt the dancers will be excited for more fun this coming dance season which kicks off in August with an Intensive Training Camp.

Studio Director and Owner, Natalie Lacasse, is extremely proud of all the girls who took time out of their Summer holidays to prepare for Nationals and compete at such a high level. All That’s Dance & More is very proud to continually represent Barrie’s performing arts community, and these dancers are a perfect example of the amazing talent within our wonderful city.
