NEWS RELEASE
LIVING GREEN BARRIE
****************************
Living Green Barrie has been making this city a greener place to live for almost 30 years. Formally known as Environmental Action Barrie, it was formed in 1991 to increase public awareness of environmental issues and to operate a recycling depot for items not collected by the City of Barrie at that time.

Since its inception, Living Green (LG) has delivered and spearheaded several innovative environmental services and programs that have been taken up by the City of Barrie and others. Examples include the recycling depot, and Spring Into Clean. This fall, they are hosting several community tree plantings, FruitShare blitzes, educational workshops and events.

After a strategic planning exercise, LG has launched a fundraising campaign called 10,000 Trees for Barrie and adopted a new mission: to guide citizens, businesses and local leaders towards actions that foster sustainability and resilience in our community.

Please join Living Green this Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Uptown Theatre for a free movie screening of Living the Change. All are welcome.

This movie is a perfect remedy to combat the powerlessness we can feel when faced with the realities of climate change. It challenges us to think globally and act locally.

Living the Change explores solutions to the global crises we face today – solutions any one of us can be part of – through the inspiring stories of people pioneering change in their own lives and in their communities.

BYO bowl for popcorn to keep this event waste-free!
