WATCH: Province launches voluntary COVID-19 assessment tool for students, education staff

Parents, students, staff encouraged to use the screening tool to assess COVID-19 symptoms before each school day

Parents, students, and education staff now have an interactive screening tool to assess COVID-19 symptoms and risk factors before the school day.

The tool, launched by the Ontario government today, is voluntary.

The Ontario government says the asssessment tool will help students and staff determine if they should attend school each day based on their symptoms and possible risk. A press release from the government also emphasized that the tool protects privacy and does not collect any personl information.

The launch of this tool comes on the heels of Friday's launch of  a new web page making COVID-19 child care centre and school-specific data publicly available online.

Premier Doug Ford is slated to make an announcement at 1 p.m. today at Queen's Park.

Today's announcement comes after Ford said new health measures may be coming for COVID-19 hot spots, like Ottawa and the GTA.

The premier will be joined by Minister of Health Christine Elliott, Minister of Education Stephen Lecce and the President of the Treasury Board Peter Bethlenfalvy.
