It was exciting and encouraging to see such a strong turnout on Wednesday for NDP leader Jagmeet Singh's visit to Barrie.

He met candidates from Barrie-Innisfil, Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte, and York-Simcoe. There were many enthusiastic energetic people in attendance.

What was scheduled to be a 30-minute stopover ended up being an hour-and-a-half visit.

Mr. Singh took time to shake hands, listen to residents, and speak with the media about the issues that really matter to us living here in Simcoe County: climate change, housing affordability, health-care investments, pharmacare, the opioid crisis, pension protections, mental health and more.

As the leader of the federal NDP, Mr. Singh’s visit demonstrates an uncompromising support for the needs of regular people, and the “love and courage” he so well epitomizes.

To me, it's very clear voters have two options in this coming election: to vote for a positive change with the NDP and their strong commitment to climate justice and a party that’s in it for you, or the status quo parties of the Liberals and Conservatives who make promises when campaigning only to break them when governing.
