Yes, you read it right! The Community Wholeness Center (CWC) Barrie is hosting a night of celebration themed “Laughter is the Best Medicine” on Friday, June 10, 2016.

The event is an earnest effort to raise One Million “Toonies” ($2). Donors from across the world are invited to participate in sustaining the Community Give and Get program - a vision fostered by Frank Nelson, a philanthropist from Barrie, Ontario.

In just six short weeks the Community Give and Get Barrie program has supported over 1,800 people including, seniors, young families, single moms and dads, dual income families struggling to make ends meet, youth, and homeless individuals.

All possible through the generous donations from the local community, over 14,000 items have been given to them FREE.

Laughter is the Best medicine will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tele-pledge-athon to launch and sustain the full-time Give and Get Barrie location and allow for Phase 2 of Frank’s Vision to be implemented.

People from all over the world can watch us live on our YouTube channel, Face Book Skype and Twitter Channels. Donations and pledges  can be made in many ways:

In Person, Pay Pal, Square, E-transfer, SMS Messaging, Skype, YouTube, Face Book Pledges, and ANY Scotia Bank around the World.

The celebration and legacy launch event will be a fun-filled night with a string of performances lined up to keep everyone entertained.

The event will be emceed by Apryl Munro and Sarah Lajeunesse from This Kinda Life, Shelly Skinner (theeventdivas.ca) as host, and will have stand up comedy performance by Andrea Murray and Jeff Falkner, and musical performances featuring Dave Ahara, Stefan Faykos, Emily Devlin, Scott Reid and Stephanie Howes.

The venue will also feature an art exhibition by Victoria Potter and a kids zone hosted by Cory Clarke of Magical Duda.

The event is Free and open to the Community. The event will be hosted at Community Wholeness Center, 59 Maple Avenue, Barrie.
