Knife, suspected cocaine seized after alleged robbery in Innisfil

The South Simcoe Police Service has laid multiple charges after responding to a weapons call in Innisfil.

On Monday, Aug. 9, 2021, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a male victim reported he was assaulted and robbed by a man with a knife. The incident occurred in the Killarney Beach Road and 20th Sideroad area. The victim and his group had befriended the suspect and a female earlier in the day.

The suspect had left the scene on foot with the woman prior to police arrival but they were subsequently located by officers and arrested. Police seized a knife and suspected cocaine. The victim did not require medical treatment.

As a result of the investigation, 45-year-old Carlos Cavalheiro of Innisfil was charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Robbery With a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Possession of drugs (suspected cocaine)

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

37-year-old Megan Johnston of Angus was arrested on an unrelated warrant from another police service and turned over to that service's custody.
