Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) recently honoured employees and physicians for their years of service, celebrating their dedication and commitment to the health centre and its patients.

At the Service Awards ceremony, held June 21, RVH honoured Dr. Kenneth Baxter and Dr. Syed Quadri for 45 years of service as physicians. In the staff category, Ken Gould, a special aide with Patient Food Services was recognized for an incredible 45 years while Gail McCuaig, a bed allocation officer in the Utilization Management department reached the 40 year milestone.

These service awards are given to staff and physicians for every five years of employment. This year, 365 members of TEAM RVH, including 49 physicians, were recognized for years of service. Some of those honoured worked at the old RVH site on Ross Street, the current Georgian Drive site and now in the new expansion.

Eleven staff celebrated 35 years of service while 18 staff and nine physicians were acknowledged for 30 years of service. Twenty-four staff and three physicians reached the 25-year milestone, making them part of the Quarter Century Club which will have 705 members.

“At RVH we value people and are committed to recognizing our staff and physicians for their dedication and achieving their best,” says Janice Skot, president and CEO. “This celebration is not just about years of service, but also about the exceptional quality of their service. Whether we honour our staff and physicians for five years or 45 years, what we are truly celebrating, and find so impressive, is the impact they have on the patient experience every day.”

Michael O’Keefe, chair of the RVH Board of Directors, was in attendance and congratulated each of the recipients.

“I applaud each of the employees and physicians honoured at RVH’s Service Awards for their commitment to this health centre and its patients,” says O’Keefe. ”It’s because of their skill, compassion and loyalty we are able to promise our patients the safest, best possible experience in our health centre. And without them, we wouldn’t be able to deliver on that promise.”
