NEWS RELEASE

SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE

*************************
On Monday, January 25, 2016, just around lunchtime, a South Simcoe Police constable was stopped at the intersection of Melbourne Drive and Holland Street West in Bradford.

The officer saw a man running towards him, who then ran onto the road and right into the side of the cruiser.

The man told the officer he was going for a jog, but his demeanor made the officer suspicious.

While questioning the man, a witness reported that staff from the Canadian Tire had been chasing the jogger.

It was determined that the man had [allegedly] fled the store empty-handed when the alarm sounded as he was leaving with a saw he had failed to purchase.

The 52-year-old Bradford man will appear in court in March, charged with theft under $5,000.
