Innisfil unveils names of new ‘snowbots’ in Cookstown

After receiving more than 100 name suggestions for two new plows, Optimus Plow and Snowbi Wan Kenobi chosen

The Town of Innisifl has revealed the names of its new 'snowbots' that will clear sidewalks and paths in Cookstown this winter of the white, fluffy precipitation.

The municipality is partnering with Swap Robotics to bring its first snow-plowing robot to town.

The town received more than 100 name suggestions for the two new plows, which are part of a pilot project for the first ever town in Canada to implement 100 per cent electric, sidewalk robots.

It was residents Anna N. and Olivia S. who came up with the winning monikers: Optimus Plow and Snowbi Wan Kenobi.

The Cookstown snowbots will have a human chaperone to accompany the robot as an added layer of safety for this winter.
