NEWS RELEASE
TOWN OF INNISFIL
***************************
The Town of Innisfil and InnServices are hosting a public open house for the Lockhart Road East reconstruction project and the Sandy Cove sewage pumping station environmental assessment on March 23 at the Wheel in Sandycove Acres (2 Weeping Willow Dr.). Community members are invited to drop in between 5 and 7:30 p.m. to learn about the projects, ask questions and provide comments.

“Road and infrastructure projects like these are essential for keeping our municipality safe, connected and prepared for future growth,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “We hope this open house will give everyone who lives, works or travels within the Sandy Cove community an opportunity to understand the proposed work and to share their insights with the project team.”

The project to improve Lockhart Road was first identified in the town's 2018 Transportation Master Plan and is now in its second phase of development. Phase Two directly follows progress made in Phase One, with road rehabilitation works continuing from 25th Sideroad to Lake Simcoe. Other planned improvements include drainage upgrades, new watermain and sewer installations, new traffic signals and turning lanes at 25th Sideroad, and the addition of active transportation lanes and a road-end parkette.

Coinciding with the reconstruction of Lockhart Road East, InnServices is undertaking a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study to determine the requirements for the new sewage pumping station in the greater Sandy Cove settlement area. The sewage pumping station is needed to service lands that cannot be serviced by the gravity sewer that runs to Lockhart Road.

The public open house will comprise both projects and is a joint initiative between the Town of Innisfil and InnServices Utilities Inc.

Those unable to attend on March 23 are encouraged to contact the project team members with any comments or questions they may have. Feedback can also be provided through the project information page at getinvolvedinnisfil.ca/lockhart.
