INNISFIL FARMERS' MARKET

The Innisfil Farmers' Market was awarded the Best in Innovation Award at the Farmers' Markets Ontario conference earlier this month.

The award recognizes the Innisfil Farmers’ Market for executing an exemplary innovative idea for the 2019 season.

During the 2019 season, the Innisfil Farmers’ Market implemented a loyalty coin program as a way to give back to its devoted customers.

The program featured 2,000 wood coins crafted by hand by high school students and distributed by volunteers to customers to use as currency to buy goods. “People loved the idea of collecting something physical,” says market manager, Jaime Grant. “I’m proud to have been part of this initiative and I am humbled by the honour.” The Innisfil Farmers’ Market, which started in 2011, offers more than fresh produce.

Each year the market is host to special events including dunk tanks, pie eating contests and much more.

“We are delighted for the Innisfil Farmers’ Market to be recognized with this award,” said Innisfil Mayor Lynn Dollin. “The market is such an important piece of the fabric of our community and we are grateful to all of the vendors and volunteers who make the market possible. I can’t wait to see what the 2020 season brings!”
