MIDHURST - On behalf of County Council, Deputy Warden Terry Dowdall has proclaimed Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018 to be Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day in recognition of the child care professionals who are focused on the wellbeing of children and families in our communities.

“Our Child Care Workers and Early Childhood Educators play such an important role in our communities, in the lives of our families and in the growth of our children,” said Deputy Warden Terry Dowdall. “Join me and our many parents throughout Simcoe County in thanking these individuals and showing our appreciation for their work and dedication.”

The County of Simcoe is the Child Care Service System Manager for Simcoe County and the cities of Barrie and Orillia. There are 1,500 child care staff working in 192 licensed child care sites, with a total system capacity of more than 15,000 licensed spaces.

The County of Simcoe is composed of sixteen member municipalities and provides crucial public services to County residents in addition to providing paramedic and social services to the separated cities of Barrie and Orillia.
