Hotel, conference centre on Fairview Rd. gets new name

Hotel includes 161 guest rooms and a conference centre that can accommodate up to 256 people

The former Holiday Inn on Fairview Road in south-end Barrie is under new ownership after being acquired by Choice Hotels Canada and will now be known as the Allure Hotel and Conference Centre.

The Allure Hotel and Conference Centre is part of the Ascend Hotel Collection. As the 22nd addition in Canada, the hotel also has an on-site conference centre that can accommodate up to 256 people.

“While we are still in a pandemic, the appetite for new hotels under the Ascend Hotel Collection banner has remained and we are thrilled to be opening the Allure Hotel and Conference Centre in Barrie,” Rob Alldred, director of membership development for Ascend Hotel Collection at Choice Hotels Canada, said in a news release.

The hotel includes 161 guest rooms, some of which have balconies or direct access outside. Aside from the conference centre, the hotel has an on-site restaurant, Spynn, which has a menu "inspired by local gastronomy."

The Allure Hotel and Conference Centre is owned by Aurora Group, a family-owned company which is involved in projects across North America. The Allure Hotel and Conference Centre, located at 20 Fairview Rd., is their second Ascend Hotel Collection property, joining the Pinestone Resort and Conference Centre in Haliburton.
