Hot and juicy Ribfest returns to Innisfil this Father's Day weekend (20 photos)

Event continues today until midnight, including fireworks at dusk, and then Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

Ribfest returns to Innisfil this weekend at the Innisfil Recreational Complex – three days of good food, good music and family fun presented by the Innisfil Community Events Corporation (I.C.E. Corp.) and the Ontario Festival Group.

The third annual Innisfil Ribfest opened Friday evening, with four great award-winning ribbers – Ontario’s Billy Bones, Camp 31 out of Alabama, Pistol Pete’s from Oklahoma, and Hogs Gone Wild from Daytona Beach – providing mouth-watering barbecue.

It wasn’t just about ribs. The pitmasters also served up barbecue chicken, sausages and pulled pork, and various sides, from baked beans to slaw. Other food vendors ensured that visitors could chow down on Billy Bob’s Bloomin’ Onions, roasted corn on the cob or yams, funnel cakes, ice cream, even poutine.

There was a beer garden, but Ribfest is a family festival, with a midway, pony rides and free face-painting for the kids.

On the 400 Chrysler stage, the music was free all weekend long on the 400 Chrysler stage, with John Anderson, and Charlotte and the Dirty Cowboys, opening for a weekend of acts that included Marshall Dane, Hotel California (Eagles tribute band), and the Satallites reggae band.

Innisfil Ribfest continues Saturday until midnight, and Father’s Day Sunday, from noon to 6 p.m., with more music, more food and more fun. Saturday’s event also includes fireworks at dusk.

Admission is $3, free for accompanied children 12 and under. Parking is free. No pets allowed.
