The Ontario College of Family Physicians recently hosted their annual awards ceremony. Hospice Simcoe is proud to share that Dr. Brian Morris, their medical director and a Barrie family physician, is one of ten recipients of the Award of Excellence.

Dr. Morris was recognized for his leadership and dedication in the delivery of palliative care through the implementation of effective new care initiatives and in his role as Medical Director for Hospice Simcoe.  Dr. Morris has been practicing family medicine in Barrie for 37 years.

“Dr. Morris continues to provide leadership, support and is highly motivated to improve palliative care delivery in our area. He is an invaluable member of our team.”  Kelly Hubbard, Executive Director, Hospice Simcoe

“I am honoured to receive this award which I feel as much a recognition of Hospice Simcoe as it is of my work.  Palliative care has become increasingly important in my life. The staff, residents and their families at Hospice Simcoe have taught me so much about palliative care.”

“The Ontario College of Family Physicians is proud to celebrate the outstanding skill, knowledge and dedication of family doctors across Ontario through the 2017 Awards program. The recipients exemplify the vital work family doctors do to help Ontarians healthy.  The Award of Excellence recognizes outstanding contributions in a specific area pertaining to the specialty of family medicine: patient care, community service, hospital or health-care institutions, College activities (CFPC or OCFP), teaching, research or other elements of the academic discipline of family medicine.”  Ontario College of Family Physicians  http://ocfp.on.ca/2017-award-winners
