In December 2009, our 10-bed residential facility welcomed our first resident. We begin 2019 with another milestone. Last week, our 2,000th resident spent their final days of life in the care and comfort of Hospice Simcoe.

“The staff and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe are very proud that we have cared for 2,000 people as they journeyed through the end of their life, and at the same time, supported our resident’s family members. We have shared love, laughter and tears with those in our care,” said Kelly Hubbard, executive director.

Our clinical team is comprised of RNs, RPNs and PSWs. In addition to the high-quality, 24-hour palliative care they provide, they go the extra mile to help celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and other milestone events. We have even hosted a few weddings at our residence.

Thanks to a very generous community, all of our programs and services are provided at no cost to our residents, community clients and their families.

We fundraise $1.2 million each year to assist with daily expenses for our residential, bereavement and in home Visiting Hospice programs and services; volunteer and staff training, utilities, food, furniture, equipment, building and ground maintenance, administration etc.

Last year, Hospice Simcoe celebrated a milestone – 30 years of caring in our community. Our in-home Visiting Hospice program and our bereavement program have been supporting people in Simcoe County since 1988.

Hospice Simcoe was the first Hospice in Ontario to receive the double cohort accreditation from Hospice Palliative Care Ontario (in 2017).
