Barrie Police Service has made an arrest after receiving a call from two residents who fled their home through a bedroom window during a home invasion in Barrie’s east end.
On Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 8:10 p.m. Barrie Police attended an address on Maitland Drive, in the City of Barrie, for reports of a single male who entered the home demanding money, drugs and valuables.
Police spoke to the victim and witnesses on scene who provided some resistance towards the investigation, but were able to give a description of the suspect.
Police located a vehicle a short distance away that appeared to contain the items that were taken from the residence.
When police attended the residence of the registered owner, he matched the description given of the suspect and could not provide a straight story on his vehicles whereabouts, its contents and what he had been up to early in the evening.
A 23-year-old Barrie male has been charged with:
- Break & Enter
- Disguise with Intent
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Robbery with Violence
- Assault
The male was held at the Barrie Police Service for a bail hearing Friday.
His vehicle was also held at the Barrie Police Service awaiting a warrant for police to continue their investigation.
