Secondary teachers across the Simcoe County District School Board are set to escalate job action as of Tuesday, says the board.

The following labour update was provided today by the board:

Secondary

The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) has been engaged in local negotiations with the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) District 17 permanent secondary school teachers’ union since March 2015.

The board and the union have met on 19 occasions in an effort to reach a local tentative agreement.

On December 9, 2015, the board advised OSSTF that we would be seeking the support of the conciliator, who was appointed by the Ministry of Labour, to assist the parties in reaching an agreement.

OSSTF has advised the board that local sanctions will be escalated beginning Tuesday, December 15, 2015.

These sanctions will include but are not limited to withdrawal from professional development and from staff and school board meetings.

Teachers will not be completing comments on report cards and will not accept assignments from students for assessment after January 21.

They will also refrain from applying to positions at new or consolidated schools, and will not distribute board communications to parents or students, or update board or school websites.

The SCDSB is committed to reaching fair, negotiated agreements with all of our employee groups and are disappointed that this has not been achieved with OSSTF.
