While Barrie city council needs to ratify the proposed sponsorship deal with Pratt Homes and Pratt Development, councillors give their approval to the local development company to proceed with their naming contest; signalling Monday's vote as a mere technicality.
The website is open and the voting is underway until Friday, Jan. 12, 2018.

Pratt Homes, Pratt Development and The City of Barrie will create a short list of five names from the submissions and from Jan. 17 to Jan. 26 residents can vote on those.
The winning name will be announced at council early February.
