When Barrie philanthropist Frank Nelson introduced himself to Coffee Culture owner Larry Moore last fall, Moore was hooked on Frank's cause.

As part of Nelson's bucket list, he created the Community Give and Get, a non-profit initiative downtown where the needy can pick up all kinds of donated household items for free.

"I thought this was such a great cause," said Moore. "There's nothing like this out there."

Moore planned a party to mark his one-year anniversary in business but now he's making it a day-long celebration and fundraiser for the Give and Get.

The festivities on July 17 will include a dunk tank, magician, caricature artist, face painting, Butterbean the miniature therapy horse and a silent auction.

100 percent of beverage proceeds will be donated to the Community Give and Get Centre and help Frank Nelson complete his 'paying it back' bucket list.

"I thought let's do this more for Frank than Coffee Culture," Moore said.  "We'll use Coffee Culture as the events place but put it for Frank and the Give and Get."

Nelson became internationally known for his bucket list item called the Paying It Back Campaign in which he's given away $1,000 gifts to more than 34 people.

The retired businessman was inspired by watching daytime television host Ellen DeGeneres' donations while he underwent treatment for cancer, which has now metastasized into his bones.

Moore hopes to raise $10,000 and is encouraging Barrie residents to help give back to the community - and Frank's cause.

"We're hoping that this the first annual as well," said Moore. "He's a very worthy person and for his journey I'd love to be able to contribute as much as I could to his cause."

Everyone is invited to enjoy a day of fun at Coffee Culture Cafe and Eatery located at 494 Big Bay Point Road at Yonge on July 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
