Environment Canada has issued a snow squall watch for Barrie, Midland and Orillia.

Expect flurries today, risk of snow squalls this afternoon with a high -4.

Cold tonight with flurries and snow squalls, about 5 to 10 cm, low -13.

Thursday we'll see a mix of sun and cloud, 30 percent chance of flurries and the high -4.

Here is the bulletin from Environment Canada:

4:36 AM EST Wednesday 20 January 2016
Snow squall watch in effect for:

  • Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale
  • Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake

Snow squalls are expected to develop late this afternoon or this evening and persist into Thursday morning. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities may be significantly reduced in heavy snow and the snow may quickly accumulate.

Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather.

Snow squall watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the formation of bands of snow that could produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports to #ONStorm.
