A special weather statement is in effect.

Showers with the risk of a thunderstorm today.  Amount 10 to 15 mm. Wind gusting to 50 km/h.  High 6.

Here are the details of the special weather statement issued by Environment Canada:

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale
  • Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake
  • Orillia - Lagoon City - Washago

Significant rain expected Today and Monday.

An intensifying low pressure system over Oklahoma is forecast to soak southern portions of the province beginning early this morning for Southwestern Ontario and elsewhere today.

Several rounds of rain are expected with some embedded heavier thunderstorms in many areas.

Total general rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 millimetres are anticipated through Monday before it tapers off.

But some areas which receive more persistent thunderstorms are likely to be impacted by 50 to 75 mm.

The greatest threat for this heavier rainfall is to the northeast of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.

Rainfall warnings are likely to be issued for some regions overnight.
