A heat warning is in effect

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning. 

A mix of sun and cloud today with 30 percent chance of showers and the high 32, humidex 36.

Mix of sun and cloud tomorrow, chance of showers with risk of a thunderstorm, late-morning wind gusting to 40 km/h.

The high tomorrow 31 but will feel like 38 with the humidity.

Here are the details of the heat warning in effect for:

  • Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale
  • Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake
  • Orillia - Lagoon City - Washago

Humidex values reaching near 40 are expected.

Heat and humidity will arrive today with high temperatures reaching near 31 or 32 degrees and lasting until Thursday.

Night time lows will also be warm in the 19 to 21 degree range tonight and Wednesday night.

There may be temporary relief from the heat due to showers or thunderstorms.

Cooler weather will arrive by Friday.

Frequently visit neighbours, friends and older family members, especially those who are chronically ill, to make sure that they are cool and hydrated.

Never leave people or pets in your care inside a parked vehicle or in direct sunlight.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
