Special weather statement says more snow coming

A special weather statement is in effect.

Sunny today with a high zero.

Clouds tonight, chance of light snow before morning with a low -9.

Snow at times heavy on Wednesday, about 10 cm, then changing to rain late in the afternoon, the high 2.

Thursday chance of showers and windy with a high 5.

Here are the details of the special weather statement in effect for:

  • Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale
  • Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake
  • Orillia - Lagoon City - Washago

A low pressure system is expected to bring significant snowfall to the area beginning overnight tonight and continues into Wednesday.

Snow is expected to be heavy at times on Wednesday.

Current indications suggest possible snowfall accumulation of 5 to 10 cm by Wednesday evening.

There is still some uncertainty regarding the exact location of the heaviest snow.

Environment Canada will continue to closely monitor this developing situation and warnings may be issued as the details become more certain.
