The Midhurst Community Recreation Association is proud to launch an exciting event for Fall 2020: the Midhurst Scarecrow Contest! Our annual Midhurst Autumnfest Fall Fair was unfortunately cancelled in a unanimous decision by our board of directors due to continued uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, but event co-ordinators have been working hard to plan community initiatives that can bring our community together even as we stay physically apart.

The Midhurst Scarecrow Contest is an annual event that usually takes place as a part of Midhurst Autumnfest. Since the inception of the contest, residents have been encouraged to build and display scarecrows on their lawns every year.

Photos of the scarecrows were displayed at Autumnfest and residents could vote on their favourites.

This year, we’re encouraging residents to participate once again in a new virtual version of the contest. Here’s how:

STEP 1: Build and display a scarecrow on your lawn.

STEP 2: Snap a photo and email it to [email protected] to be featured online.

STEP 3: Starting September 26, vote online for your favourite scarecrow. The top three scarecrows will win a gift certificate to one of our great local restaurants:

1st place - $75 from Kelsey's

2nd place - $50 from East Side Mario's

3rd place - $25 from the Breakfast House

We’re hoping that this contest can help to bring our community together during a challenging time.
