Two Georgian College administrators have been honoured with awards from the College Administrators Network for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to the Ontario college system

The association for Ontario college administrators recognized Megan Fenton with the Emerging Leader Award and Dr. Catherine Drea with the Doug Light Lifetime Achievement Award. Both awards were presented at the College Administrators Network annual conference on Monday, June 26 in King City.

Georgian College President and CEO MaryLynn West-Moynes congratulated Drea and Fenton for their accomplishments.

“Both Catherine and Megan are extremely dedicated to the success of Georgian College students and well respected across the Ontario college system,” she said. “All of us at Georgian are inspired by their leadership and very proud.”

Fenton’s award recognizes administrators newer to management. Although in her role of Manager of Co-operative Education and Career Success for only a few years, Fenton has accomplished a great deal, all while striving for continuous improvement.

Most notably, she worked closely with Georgian’s Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre and Centre for Social Entrepreneurship to research, develop and launch an entrepreneurial co-op program with great uptake from students with a keen interest to start a business or social enterprise

The Doug Light Lifetime Achievement Award presented to Drea pays tribute to an administrator who has significantly influenced college education throughout his or her career.

Drea has extensive experience leading large academic and student services portfolios; has championed numerous new programs, partnerships and pathways; and contributed significantly to student engagement and retention. She is currently helping to guide Georgian’s growing partnership with Lakehead University.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions and leadership in the field of student services, Drea also received the Art King Award from the Coordinating Committee of Vice Presidents – Students.
