The Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre at Georgian College is thrilled to present award-winning advertising legend, author and broadcaster, Terry O’Reilly. O’Reilly will share his wisdom on the power of marketing – If you don’t have a story... you don’t have a business – with students, alumni, staff and supporters on Tuesday, March 27.

You will be entertained and educated by what he has to say – whether you’re an entrepreneur or work locally. His presentation will inspire you in new ways on how to brand and market, and really tap into how to tell your story.

O’Reilly began his career as a copywriter for the top creative advertising agencies in Canada. Since then, he co-founded an audio production company, hosts the award-winning CBC Radio One show, Under The Influence, and co-authored the best-selling book The Age of Persuasion. His new book is This I Know: Marketing Lessons from Under the Influence. He has received three Lifetime Achievement Awards from the advertising industry.

O’Reilly has a unique and insightful viewpoint on what it truly takes to connect with today’s customers. His themes are applicable to any sector, as he focuses on the thinking behind effective campaigns, out-of-the-box strategic insights, how to create a powerful identity, why brands matter (big or small), and how to cut through the data smog with ideas that are impossible to ignore.

His keynote address is part of the Henry Bernick Medal Awards presentation. The medal commemorates the qualities of its namesake, Henry Bernick. Medals are given to deserving recipients across three categories:

  • Student Entrepreneur
  • Community Entrepreneur
  • Entrepreneurs’ Champion

“Henry was a strong and principled man, a mentor, entrepreneur and philanthropist,” said John Pickard, executive director, Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre. “He was a friend of Georgian College and his support allowed for the creation of the Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre. The medal awards honour Henry’s legacy while also recognizing the next generation of those starting and growing great businesses and social enterprises in this region.”

The event takes place Tuesday, March 27. Doors open to attendees at 4:45 p.m. with the Henry Bernick Medal Awards presentation at 5 p.m. The keynote address will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will include a short question and answer period with O’Reilly. Tickets for the general public cost $25 each and can be purchased online

The presentation will take place in the Georgian Theatre, Barrie Campus. All tickets are general admission.

This event is proudly sponsored by Barriston Law, BDC, BDO, Larche Communications and Sun Life Financial.
