A GoFundMe account has been set up for a young father of two little boys who was killed in a Midland plaza parking lot.

Corby Stott, 29, of Wyevale was struck by a car in an alley behind Mark's Work Warehouse in the parking lot on Highway 12 around 1:50 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Det. Insp. Martin Graham of the OPP's Criminal Investigation Branch said there was an altercation between Stott and the driver of an orange Honda.

The Honda was travelling the wrong way down the alley behind the store and Graham says Stott wound up on the vehicle's hood.

"There were a number of reports of motorists being frustrated at not being able to exit the busy parking lot," said Graham. "The victim was reported to be attempting to control traffic and can be seen in a photo from a member of the public standing in front of the orange vehicle."

Stott was treated at the scene and transported to Georgian Bay Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

"Corby was taken from us too early, and with the permission of Casey, Brian's Mommy, I have started this go fund me to cover the boys, Brian and Wes-man, for college," reads a note on the gofundme page.

"Corby was a great father, but now it is time for us to take up care of these boys, but also make sure they remember what a great guy their father was."

Graham says Stott's family was also at the plaza and was "in the vicinity" of the incident that claimed Stott's life.

The veteran homicide investigator says the men were strangers.

"There's no connection that's been uncovered to suggest them having ever met before Saturday," said Graham.

A 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

Jason Heffernan of London is charged with second degree murder and will appear in Barrie court on Wednesday.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have taken photographs or video to come forward.

Anyone with information relating to the incident is asked to contact Midland Police at 705-526-2201 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
