NEWS RELEASE

SIMCOE COUNTY DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

With Earth Day just around the corner (Apr. 22), the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is offering a workshop for secondary students who are interested in an environmental career. On Apr. 20, the SCDSB is hosting Agents of Change – Turning Your Environmental Passions into Paycheques.

Students will hear from experts in the environmental sector and participate in hands-on activities that will provide insight on possible career paths. A keynote address will be given by The Water Brothers.

“The environmental field is growing so rapidly. With changes in legislation and awareness finally having an impact on day-to-day business, an environmental career is possible in any field,” says Jessica Kukac, Environmental Systems Coordinator, SCDSB. “There are so many interesting courses and education opportunities available, but knowing what will get you the career of your choice can be overwhelming. These workshops are designed to connect students with real-world professionals and learn what steps they took to get the job they have.”

Guest speakers representing organizations from across the county will work with students, including:

  • Cascades Recovery Plus
  • County of Simcoe
  • Enerlife Consulting
  • Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change
  • Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry
  • Parkland Landscapes
  • Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit
  • Sunflow Solar
  • Water First
