Original release

Alerts for: Barrie - Orillia - Midland

Statements

4:44 AM EST Monday 14 December 2015
Fog Advisory in effect for:

Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale
Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake
Orillia - Lagoon City - Washago

Areas of dense fog continue to affect a large part of Southern Ontario in advance of a warm front slowly approaching from the London area. A number of web cams, weather observations and trained Canwarn weather spotters have reported visibility of 250 metres or less in dense fog.

Near zero visibility will continue at times in dense fog across the region this morning.

Motorists should be prepared for sudden zero visibility in dense fog, and allow extra time to reach their destination.

The fog will dissipate later this morning as the warm front finally lifts northeastward across the region. Unseasonably mild air along with double digit temperatures are expected to return to the region in the wake of the warm front.

Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. If travelling, be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility.

Fog advisories are issued when near zero visibilities in fog are expected or occurring.
