Firefighters 'aggressively attack' morning restaurant blaze

Fire crews responded to Tandoori Kingdom on Blake Street shortly before 5 a.m. to find flames shooting through the roof

An early morning fire at an east-end Barrie restaurant had multiple firefighters on scene battling flames jutting through the roof, Thursday.

At the scene, Barrie Fire deputy chief Carrie Clark told BarrieToday that the call came in around 4:45 a.m. about flames coming out of the roof at 428 Blake St., near Steel Street.

"We have five trucks and five crews arrive to see flames venting thoroughly the roof," Clark said outside Tandoori Kingdom. "Crews aggressively attacked both the interior with our tower applications to get it knocked down.

"There are still a few hot spots, but investigators are here now to determine cause and origin," Clark said.

Early indications show that the blaze is not considered suspicious, she added.

No one was in the building at the time of the fire.
