*************************
Holiday and school spirit come together when Barrie and area high schools face off in the name of Christmas Cheer on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018.

The Kempenfelt Cup is a charity hockey tournament, hosted by the Simcoe County District School Board, that brings boys and girls hockey teams to the Barrie Molson Centre, located at 555 Bayview Dr., Barrie, Ont. for an entire day of cheering, healthy competition and most of all, fun.

Over 2,500 students buy-out of class to attend, donning their best spirit gear and cheerleading skills. This event is open to the public, with an entrance fee of $5. All proceeds from the tournament will be going to support Barrie and District Christmas Cheer’s 2018 food and toy drive campaign.

The first match-up begins at 8 a.m, with a quick 20-minute break at 11:30 a.m for cheque presentations, a photo opportunity and sponsorship announcements.
