NEWS RELEASE

SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE

On Thursday, January 14, 2016, just after 2 a.m., a South Simcoe Police sergeant was patrolling Bradford in a cruiser equipped with an Automated Licence Plate Reader.

The system alerted the officer that a vehicle he had just passed had an expired validation sticker.

When the officer stopped the car and spoke with the driver, he noted the smell of alcohol on her breath.

A roadside screening device was used, and the woman registered a FAIL.

She was arrested and taken to the station for further testing.

As a result, a 26-year-old Bradford woman has been charged with Drive Over 80 mgs, Operate Without Insurance and several Highway Traffic Act offences.

Her licence has been suspended for 90 days and her car impounded.

She will appear in court later this month.
