EPILEPSY SIMCOE COUNTY

Epilepsy Simcoe County is pleased to announce that they’re taking part in #GivingTuesdayCA, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
Just as Black Friday kicks off the holiday shopping season, GivingTuesday is the opening day of the giving season. In its eighth year in Canada, GivingTuesday continues to gain traction across the country, with thousands of partner organizations and millions of Canadians expected to take part, supporting the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live.
In preparation for GivingTuesday, Epilepsy Simcoe County is asking the question “how many lives can you change in Simcoe County in 2021 with a small monthly donation?”
Epilepsy Simcoe County’s Executive Director Shawna Bailey says that their agency needs community support now, more than ever.
“COVID and all of its challenges have hit us hard as a charity this year. We are heading into 2021 with an unclear outlook of how we will be able to raise money to support our programs.”
She goes on to say that the importance of having a local agency where individuals can get accurate and tailored information is essential. “With doctor’s appointments taking longer to get into, it’s important that our clients can get access to us quickly so that we can help with any immediate epilepsy- and seizure-related questions that they may have.”
Epilepsy Simcoe County is asking the community to consider committing to a monthly donation this #GivingTuesdayCA of only $30.
“Of course one-time donations are always welcome. This season, as we look ahead into 2021, we find that we’re still needing to provide services such as epilepsy information, classroom education, and care-giver support, but we have no guarantee as to how, and if, we can fundraise next year. All of our services are free — we don’t receive any government funding, and so monthly giving, even in small amounts, can help us build financial stability into our monthly projections.”
