On April 26, students and staff from Elmvale District High School (EDHS) and surrounding elementary schools will come together to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most people playing the game of Knockout.

EDHS students as well as Grade 7 and 8 students from Birchview Dunes ES, Hillsdale ES, Huronia Centennial ES, Minesing Central PS and Wyevale Central PS will work together to try to top the current record of 701 people. The organizers are aiming for participation of 900 people.

Participants are being asked to bring a non-perishable food item to the event as a way to help ‘knock out’ hunger as well. All donations will be given to the Elmvale Food Bank.

Knockout is often known as Bump in Canada, and is a game played with two basketballs, where competitors attempt to knock each other out of the game by scoring faster.

The ultimate Knockout winner will have their name listed in the Guinness World Records website, and receive eight tickets to watch the Barrie Colts from the EXIT Lifestyle Realty private box, donated by Chris Messecar.

The event begins at 9 a.m. at the Elmvale Community Arena, located at 14 George Street in Elmvale.
