It's time to get your Jedi on.
Cineplex is offering fans in Barrie several screenings tonight of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at Galaxy Cinemas and Bayfield Cinemas – many with tickets still available.
"The response from fans has been fantastic and you can feel the excitement in the air," said Pat Marshall, VP of Communications for Cineplex Entertainment. "We hope to see Barrie moviegoers dress up in their best Star Wars attire and come join the fun!"
The 7 p.m. and 7:30 shows at Galaxy Cinemas are already sold out but there are four more 3D showings at 8 p.m., 10:15 p.m. and 10:45 p.m.
There's a 2D showing at 9:30 p.m.
At Bayfield Cinemas tonight there are two showings with tickets still available for the 2D at 8:00 p.m. and 3D at 8:30 p.m.
"The film has the highest demand for advanced tickets that Cineplex has seen for any film ever," Marshall said. "This is one of the most anticipated films in decades so we’re happy that our guests are as eager to see the film as we are."
A 20-hour Star Wars marathon is already underway at five Cineplex locations across the country.
Those sold out shows culminate in the 7 p.m. launch of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
"It is definitely the movie event of the year," said Marshall.
