Adolescent psychiatrist Dr. Marcia Benjamin will be speaking at Innisdale Secondary School on May 4 with information on how parents can help students who are struggling with anxiety.
The evening will focus on how to help students build resilience, and how parents can support their children with simple and practical ideas.
The goal is for parents to leave with strategies that they can practice to help their child cope with anxiety, and tips to deal with preventing and minimizing the impact.
There will also be a question and answer period to address specific concerns parents might have.
This free presentation is aimed at parents of students in Grades 7 to 12, and runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. All parents are welcome and no registration is needed.
Innisdale Secondary School is located at 95 Little Avenue in Barrie.
