Downtown stabbing sends man to hospital

Incident happened around 11:30 p.m. at Lakeside Tap and Grill on Dunlop Street West

A late-night stabbing in downtown Barrie sent one man to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Wednesday.

Barrie police are releasing limited information on the incident, which happened at the Lakeside Tap and Grill at 18 Dunlop St. W.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Jennett Mays told BarrieToday the 40-year-old man had non-life-threatening injuries, but she couldn’t say whether a suspect was in custody.

“Barrie police responded to reports of a stabbing at an establishment on Dunlop Street West at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22,” Mays said.

“The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries," she added. "The investigation is ongoing and additional updates will be provided in the near future as further details become available.”
