World-class fastball returns to Oro-Medonte on Friday, July 20 and Saturday July 21 at Vasey Park located at 4851 Vasey Rd., providing another reason to visit Simcoe County.

Friday will kick off with the Dominican Republic Men’s National Team facing off against the Vasey Countrymen, and then battling the Owen Sound Junior Selects.

The Dominican team is playing in a series of exhibition games and tournaments throughout Ontario in July, with the village of Vasey on the team’s exhibition schedule.

The local contingent will be represented by players from Vasey and across the County of Simcoe, including the Townships of Oro-Medonte, Severn, Springwater, Rama, Tay and Tiny, as well as the City of Barrie and City of Orillia.

First pitch Friday night is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. An opening ceremony will follow the first game and the second game is scheduled for 8:45 p.m.

The three teams will face off again on Saturday, July 21 with the first game of the day scheduled for 9:30 a.m., and the last game scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Daily admission to the event is $5 per adult or $10 per vehicle.

Spectators can also enjoy a barbecue dinner at the park in support of local grassroots community organizations’ fundraising efforts.
