NEWS RELEASE
SIMCOE COUNTY DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
*************************
Music is in the air across the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) this spring as we search for the first ever SCDSB Idol.

Beginning April 25, students and staff are invited to submit audition videos featuring their vocal or instrumental talents (or a combination of the two). Videos can be submitted in one of four categories: student solo, student group, staff solo or staff group.

All videos that meet submission criteria will be uploaded to the SCDSB Facebook page, and members of school communities and the public will be able to ‘vote’ for their favourites by reacting to the video on Facebook, or by filling out a simple form.

The top two audition videos from each category, based on the overall number of reactions (e.g. likes, loves) and votes, will be invited to perform live at the SCDSB Idol Finale on June 5 at 4 p.m. at the Education Centre in Midhurst.

Videos will be accepted via the SCDSB Idol audition submission form from April 25 until May 13 at 4 p.m., with voting running from May 16 until May 29 at 12 p.m. The eight finalists will be announced on May 30.

Audition videos must be no more than one minute long. All submissions must include artist/group/class name(s), category and school/workplace.

This initiative links directly to the SCDSB’s Strategic Priorities under the pillars of excellence in teaching and learning.
