NEWS RELEASE
SIMCOE COUNTY DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
*************************
The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is preparing to open a new secondary school in the south end of Barrie. With the opening of a new school comes an exciting opportunity for the community to get involved in the naming process.

A school’s identity is important – it is a source of pride for the community and contributes to a positive and inspirational climate and school culture. This is something that can be felt when you walk into the school every day. The identity also influences the school’s image, including its branding, logo and mascot.

We encourage you to consider the environmental setting, the community’s geographic history and the diversity of the school community when sharing your name submissions.

We look forward to engaging with the community as we continue to build the future of education in Simcoe County.

The submission deadline is Feb. 28, 2020.

Hard copy submission forms are available at the reception desks of Hewitt’s Creek PS (located at 41 Sandringham Dr., Barrie), Hyde Park PS (72 The Queensway, Barrie) and Algonquin Ridge ES (191 Golden Meadow Rd., Barrie).

Submission forms can also be accessed and submitted online here. Hard copy submissions may be sent using any of the following methods:

  • by email to [email protected]
  • by fax to (705) 792-7492
  • in person or by mail to:
South Barrie Secondary School Naming Committee
c/o Simcoe County District School Board
    1170 Hwy. 26, Midhurst ON, L9X 1N6

A School Naming Committee will be formed to review all submissions. The committee will include parents/guardians, students, SCDSB representatives, a member of the Barrie municipal council and one community member.
