9:45 a.m. update

The driver and passengers of the motor vehicle have been released from hospital.

The driver now faces additional charges of; forcible confinement, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police and six counts of breach of probation. 

He will appear in a Barrie bail court this morning.

March 15 original release

On Monday, March 14, 2016 just after 5:30 p.m. police received several calls regarding a domestic incident between a male and female, in a black minivan, travelling south bound on Anne Street in the City of Barrie.  

Police made the attempt to stop the vehicle prior to it crashing into a pole at the corner of Henry Street and Eccles Street.

The driver, a 40-year-old male from Barrie, fled the scene on foot and was later located nearby and arrested for Domestic Assault. 

The passengers, a 29-year- old female and her one-year-old daughter from Barrie were transported to Royal Victoria Regional Health Center as a precaution.

The investigation is in its infancy stage; further charges against the driver are pending. 

As the investigation continues further details will be released.
