Detectives do final walk-through of double murder scene

Forensic search wrapping up

Barrie Homicide detectives did a final walk-through of the double murder scene on Eden Drive Monday in preparation of wrapping up the forensic search and ending the police presence at the townhouse.

After detectives completed their final examination of the scene, a Forensic Identification officer opened the garage and appeared to show the two homicide officers a couple of items.

Forensic teams have been scouring the home for nearly six days after officers discovered the bodies of 73-year-old Alan Mallinson and his 39-year-old son Matthew.

Autopsies showed the father and son were stabbed to death.

Barrie police say the victims could have been dead for four to five days at the home.

A roommate, 45-year-old Robert Twiss, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of indignity to a body and flight from police.

Twiss is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday via videolink.

Funeral arrangements for Alan and Matthew Mallinson have not been announced.
