A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared on the Barrie hospital's integrated stroke unit.

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), in collaboration with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, made the announcement Friday afternoon.

RVH says eight patients and one staff member have tested positive for COVID-19. They have been isolated.

Enhanced cleaning measures are underway, as well as swabbing of patients and staff, the hospital says.

Admissions to the unit are on hold and visitors are not permitted, however RVH says some exceptions may apply.
