The following is a running list of events, businesses and organizations that have announced cancellations, closures or postponements due to COVID-19. Sweet Oven in Orillia and Barrie will be closing as of Saturday March 21 at 6 p.m. until further notice to try and help to do our part.

Effective Friday, March 20, all Georgian campuses will remain closed to students until further notice. All programs move to remote delivery starting Monday, March 23. Students should check Blackboard for instructions.

Innisfil Town Hall (located at 2101 Innisfil Beach Rd.) will close to the public at the end of the day Wednesday, March 18 and stay closed until Monday, April 6, 2020. Despite this, residents can still get full Customer Service support during normal business hours at 705-436-3710 and through our numerous digital channels at https://innisfil.ca/contactus/.

The free Type 1 diabetes screening event for relatives of people with the disease, planned to be conducted by the Diabetes TrialNet team from the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto is coming to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) on Thursday, April 2, has been cancelled

Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority administration office is closed to the public, and that includes walk-in service for NVCA permits.

Action Read will be closed until April 6, at the very least. Please call 519-836-2759 to check if we have re-opened, or to let us know if you have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Thank you.

Effective 4:30 p.m. on March 17, 2020, the following services and facilities in the County of Simcoe are being closed to the public until further notice: ·       

  •  Simcoe County Library Co-operative       
  •  Simcoe County Archives        
  •  Simcoe County Museum       
  •  Tourism Simcoe County Information Kiosk        
  • County Administration Centre – including the Service Simcoe Desk (phone lines and other means of contact remain open)        
  • County of Simcoe Landfills and Transfer Stations – closed to the public. (Industrial, Commercial and Institutional customers who have no alternative disposal options are encouraged to contact Service Simcoe at [email protected] or 1-800-263-3199)       
  • All county events and gatherings, including in-person Council and Committees are cancelled for March and into April

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 80 Midland will be closed until further notice.

Habitat for Humanity Huronia has decided to do the following:
    •    Affiliate office is closed to the public until April 6. Affiliate team will be working remotely to continue serving families in our community.
    •    We are suspending all Volunteer shifts and activities until April 6. We ask all volunteers to stay tuned to their emails and social media for ongoing updates.
    •    Our Kitchens to Homes program is suspended until April 6.
    •    Our two ReStores, Barrie and Alliston, are closed to the public until April 6.
    •    ReStores will not be accepting any donations until April 6.
    •    We are implementing the advice and guidance from local public health experts to maintain due diligence in our Health and Safety practices.

For the safety of our staff, visitors and healthcare workers in our community, the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority (NVCA) has made the difficult but necessary decision to close the John Hix Administrative Office and Jose Environmental Learning Centre to the public until further notice.

As of March 18, 2020, Community Living Association for South Simcoe (CLASS) has cancelled all community participation supports are closed until further notice as follows: RC, BCP Bradford, Passages, FYI, Lunchbox, Soup n’ Bun at Tottenham United Church.

Out of an abundance of caution, Girl Guides of Canada have made the decision to suspend all in-person Girl Guide activities until Tuesday, April 14, beginning immediately. This course of action was chosen to ensure the health and well-being of girls, adult members, volunteers and the greater community.

Township Administration Centre will be closed to the public until further notice. 

Minesing Fire Hall will be closed to the public until further notice.

Special Council Meeting – Swaley Drain, scheduled for March 18 has been postponed.

Committee of Adjustment, scheduled for March 25, has been postponed.

Council Meetings scheduled for April 1 & 15 have been cancelled. 

Building Services & By-law Enforcement staff will be reducing the number of service calls and adjusting hours to ensure continuity of services.

Sandbox will be closed to the public with a target opening date of April 6. 

The Barrie Food Bank has closed its Morning Drop In program for the immediate future. It is their hope to continue to provide groceries to clients during the Afternoon Grocery Program for at least this week of March 16. They are providing pre packaged grocery hampers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of this week between 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The Food Bank is doing an expedited process for the safety and well being of clients, volunteers and staff. While these are the plans today, staff will be monitoring the overall Covid 19 situation daily to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

In response to the rapidly changing situation and public health concerns around COVID-19 Creating Connection's Community Centre Place at 12 Chase McEachern Way in Barrie is suspending all activities, events, programs and gatherings effective immediately and for at least the next three weeks (until Monday, April 6).

Casino Rama is postponing the following concerts: 

  • Bill Engvall on Friday, March 20 (9p.m.),
  • Ice Cube on Friday March 27(9 p.m.); and 
  • Jake Owen on Saturday, March 28(8 p.m.).

  • Maple Syrup Family Days (March Break Family Days)
  • Lights off Adventure On (Earth Hour event)
  • Spring Tonic Maple Syrup Festival

 
Walk-in service for NVCA Permits pre-consultation will remain open.

Jack’s Urban Jungle will be closed until further notice. 

Creating Connection's Community Centre Place in Barrie is suspending all activities, events, programs and gatherings effective immediately and for at least the next three weeks (until Monday, April 6).

GoodLife Fitness and Fit4Less are closing all locations across Canada until further notice.

The monthly meeting of Barrie & Area CARP at the Sheba Shrine on Tuesday is cancelled.

The Thornton District Lions Club Annual Pancake Breakfast normally scheduled for Friday, April 10th has been cancelled.

Onside Athletics have cancelled their March Break Ball Hockey Camp and the remainder of our Winter Ball Hockey League.

The MacLaren Art Centre will be closed through April 5, 2020

Innisfil Town Hall remains open, however, visitors will be limited to public areas of the building. We encourage residents to utilize online resources available at www.innisfil.ca or to contact Customer Service at 705-436-3710 or [email protected].

All Innisfil fire stations are closed to the public but remain operational.

The Innisfil Recreational Complex and YMCA will close at the end of the day and remain closed until April 6, 2020. In addition, all other Town arenas are also closed and programming is cancelled. For information about refunds contact Active Innisfil at 705-436-3710 or [email protected] 

Innisfil ideaLAB and library has announced that all library branches will be closed and programs cancelled until April 6, 2020. This includes all March Break programs and special events. Customer service can be reached at (705) 431-7410 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Residents can access e-books, e-audio and downloads at www.innisfilidealab.ca

Royal City Square Dance Club is cancelling all classes and dances until April 7.

In addition to the changes to Recreation and Culture Services announced this morning, the following is effective starting tomorrow (Saturday, March 14):

  •  All City Recreation Facilities (including arenas), Theatres and Library branches are closed until further notice.
  • City Ward meetings and planning meetings are cancelled until further notice.
  • Council Advisory Committee meetings are cancelled until further notice.
  • General Committee and Council meetings will continue but will be closed to the public. Residents are encouraged to watch the meetings on Rogers TV or online. 

Casino Rama Resort regrets to announce that the Irish Rovers concert scheduled for Saturday, March 14 at 8 p.m. has been postponed.

Member of Parliament John Brassard has closed his constituency office to the public until further notice. Staff will be available during regular business hours by phone and email to answer questions and respond to any concerns during the closure.

The Barrie Public Library is cancelling all events and programs effective 9 p.m. on Friday, March 13. 

Westwood and Starwood Dental's Patient Appreciation Movie Day at Cutten Fields on Monday March 16 to see Frozen 2 has been cancelled.

Georgian College cancels in-person classes next week at its seven campuses. 

Casino Rama Resort regrets to announce that the Chilliwack & Streetheart concert scheduled for Friday, March 13 at 9 p.m. has been postponed. 

Springwater Township has cancelled all programming. Cancellations will remain in effect until further notice.

Barrie Chamber of Commerce has made the decision to cancel all March 2020 events (Business After 5 and Barrie Public Library Workshop), and the April 2020 Chamber Business Breakfast.

The Canadian Armed Forces International Women’s Day Force Fitness Challenge, scheduled for March 14, has been cancelled. 

The Barrie Folk Society, in conjunction with the Mariposa Folk Foundation and the City of Barrie 5 Points Theatre is postponing the March 15 An Evening with Lynn Miles, Valdy & Suzie Vinnick show. 

Bradford Greenhouses Garden Gallery's Spring Garden and Home Show planned for March 14 and 15 at their Barrie location has been cancelled. Retail doors will remain open per our usual hours. Their 'Kids Kamp' planned for March Break, the Snowmobile Expo on March 21 and 22, and the Easter Egg Hunt on April 10 and 11. are also cancelled.

Simcoe County implements measures at long-term care homes, cancels museum programs.

City of Barrie using 'abundance of caution' with changes and cancellations, taking effect Friday at 4 p.m.

All publicly funded schools will be closed for two weeks following March break. 

The Ontario Hockey League has suspended its season until further notice. 

The Barrie And Mariposa Folk groups have postponed their Sunday, March 15 Concert at The Five Points Theatre. New date to follow.

Several schools trips have been cancelled, including those involving students at Innisdale and St. Peter's secondary schools. 

Georgian College's VR Hackathon scheduled for Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 at the Barrie campus has been postponed until the fall. This event wasn’t open to the public, but college officials wanted to let people know. 

The Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons concerts scheduled for Saturday, March 21 and Sunday March 22 at Casino Rama Resort have been postponed. The casino is working to reschedule the performance and will provide details once available. People can hold onto their original tickets, which will be honoured for the rescheduled performance, or they can get a refund. Anyone looking for a refund must return to the original point of purchase.

Georgian College officials announced today that they have cancelled this weekend's powwow at the Barrie campus due to concerns over COVID-19.

Cineplex is asking that "anyone who is feeling unwell refrain from visiting" its theatres

The National Hockey League announced this afternoon that it has postponed the the 2019-20 season, beginning with games scheduled for Thursday night.
