Love is in the air with the annual Barrie Country Club Bridal Show, being held Sunday, October 15.

The event is being called “the perfect backdrop to view all the latest that our bridal exhibitors have to offer. In this quaint, picturesque setting, you'll be sure to find everything to make your special day spectacular!”

Barbara Rose heads Area Productions, which hosts numerous events of this kind, and outlines what guests at the country club can expect. “(There will be) gowns, tuxedos, disc jockeys, photographers, wedding venues, makeup artists, floral design, weight loss, financial services, real estate etc.”

In short, everything – and everyone – to make the special day even more of a special day.

Rose tells BarrieToday there’s no emphatic move these days toward couples waiting longer to tie the knot. “We still see a lot of young brides, even with baby carriages at the show.”

Weddings and receptions can range from the simple to the sublime, to the bizarre – say, a technologically-minded couple walking up the aisle to the theme from Star Wars – Rose asserts couples can find what they’re looking for at the show, something as individual as they are.

“They are looking for something that defines their character.  The ‘country chic’ wedding is very popular as a lot of young brides are into country music.”

Weddings, and their lead-ups, can be very emotional, and planning can remove a lot of the stress. Couples want early on to get ideas about the overall look and feel of the ceremony and reception, and how many of their friends and relatives they wish to involve in the decision-making process. Rose says those in on the decision could make for a large contingent looking in on things at the show.

“Usually the bride to be and her bridesmaids (come to the shows together), but sometimes Mom is there and even the future hubby.”

And the cost must be borne in mind; what with venue, choice of music – band or disc jockey – limo, table setting, cakes, and photos. Rose says a special draw will be held to help with the costs of that latter item.

“One lucky bride will win a Professional Wedding Photography Package courtesy of KS Studios.”
