Cornerstone sets up 'housewarming' gift registry ahead of treatment facility opening

Inpatient women's treatment facility expected to officially open in September on Dunlop Street West

The walls are up and the roof trusses are expected to go up soon at Cornerstone to Recovery’s new Women’s Inpatient Recovery Community Facility on Dunlop Street West in Barrie.

With the doors expected to officially open in September, officials have come up with a unique new initiative to help the facility meet its needs come opening day by establishing a housewarming gift registry.

“The gift registry provides an immediate opportunity for the community to play an integral role in the development of the new facility while helping Cornerstone to acquire these urgently needed resources,” stated the facility’s director Lori-Ann Seward, noting the donations will help to meet their scheduled opening goal of September 2022.

The gift registry has been set up with items ranging from small kitchen items to linens and gives anyone the opportunity to purchase and donate needed items to the facility.

“Our hearts are filled with gratitude that our community is as excited as we are, and they want to help," Seward said.

Cornerstone to Recovery is a not-for-profit organization that has been offering a proven program of success which focuses on community-based recovery. Guests are provided with a 90-day stay that includes a holistic program, family counseling, re- employment training and a lifetime of aftercare.

With a critical shortage of female-only treatment centres in the province, the women’s residential recovery facility in Barrie will be the first community recovery facility for women in Simcoe County and will provide 10 residential program rooms and three transitional program rooms.
