Cops probe stabbing in downtown Barrie (UPDATE: Arrest made)

Man, 32, taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injury in what police call a targeted attack; 23-year-old man arrested

UPDATE: Barrie police said Saturday afternoon that a 23-year-old man has been arrested in relation to Friday night's stabbing. 

Just before 11 a.m., Saturday, the suspect was located in the area of Toronto and Dunlop streets. He was arrested without incident.

The man has been charged with aggravated assault, robbery and three counts of failure to comply with probation. 

He will remain in custody and appear in bail court via video remand.

Barrie police are investigating after a man was stabbed downtown Friday night. 

A 32-year-old man was taken to the Barrie hospital with a serious but non-life-threatening injury.

Police responded to a 911 call around 8 p.m. and found the victim on Collier Street, east of Clapperton Street.

Officers were still in the area of Collier and Clapperton streets at 11 p.m., Friday, documenting the scene. 

Investigators canvassed the area and determined the incident had taken place in the area of Worsley and Clapperton streets.

The two men knew each other, according to police.

Police believe it was a targeted attack, Barrie police Const. Sarah Bamford told BarrieToday on Saturday morning. 

Authorities are still developing a suspect description.
