The Barrie Community Life Centre is organizing a memorial vigil and service in Jaimee Lee Miller's memory.

This service "in commemoration and remembrance" of Jaimee's life will also be held for other women in "our circles who have lost their lives or who are victims of abuse or violence," wrote the Centre's Ken Toobey on the Life Centre's Facebook page.

"Jaimee was well known in Barrie and we know that her loss is devastating to her family and friends," he said.

The memorial service for Miller will be held at the Burton Avenue United Church next Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Organizers wanted a central location to downtown Barrie to allow people who knew Jaimee the most to attend.

A local singer will participate along with a several speakers who plan to provide a tribute to Jaimee and other victims of violence.

Miller's body was found in the Simcoe County Forest last Wednesday by a person walking a dog on the east side of Gill Road in Springwater Township.

Police say they are treating her death as a homicide.

Investigators from the OPP and Barrie Police are awaiting autopsy results to determine exactly how Miller was killed.

Huronia West OPP Const. Mark Kinney tells BarrieToday.com that police are waiting for further test results this week from the Centre of Forensic Sciences.

Police spent the weekend canvassing the area where Miller's body was found.

Miller was reported missing to Barrie Police last November and was last heard from via text message at Thanksgiving.

Anyone with information about her death is asked to contact the Huronia West OPP detachment at 705-429-3575, Barrie police at 705-725-7025 ext. 2160 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-301-1122.
